Alcázar: 200 cartas es una carta de amor a la isla donde se representa la belleza de la gente y el lugar
Roberto Alcazar, executive producer of the independent film 200 Cartas (200 Letters) and founder/creative director of EO Integration, spoke with PRODU following the films smash hit during its premiere week in Puerto Rico.In Puerto Rico it all went well, above all the first four days of the premiere were really great. Were fascinated by the idea that an independent film could outdo Hollywood, at least for a weekend Alcazar said. We opened in nine out of 18 theaters, we were in first place ahead of Insidious 2, which opened the same day with a multimillion dollar advertising budget, and with all that we outsold all other films in half the theaters, and in the other nine we came in second he added.Alcazar said the reasons for such a huge success included the brand integration, the effort made in street marketing and the presence on social networks. 200 Cartas on Facebook was at the heart of all the promotional activity and from there we also connected with all the social networks of our sponsors and the reach was incredible. Were on the social networks of Bacardi, Goya, Banco Popular, Target Rent a Car, and Cristalia Premium Water he said. The producer believes the movie theaters were packed because the film dumped the Puerto Rican film cliches like violence, sex and drugs, topic moviegoers are tired of. 200 Cartas is also a love letter to the island that portrays the beauty of the people and the place I believe thats what won such total audience support.
